Transitions Championship Golf Tournament

February 28, 2011 :: Posted by - Crazy Caddie :: Category - My Crazy Caddie

The Transitions Championship Golf Tournament to be held at the golf course of the Innisbrook Resort and Golf Club in Tampa Bay, Florida started out as the Tampa Bay Classic in 2000. It was cancelled a year later due to the September 11 terrorist attacks on the United States. It resumed a year later and from 2003 to 2006 had a slot as a full-field golf event before the Tour Championship. Today it is a professional golf tournament which is a part of the PGA tour. It is currently being sponsored by Transition Optical which took over from PODS, which stands for Portable On Demand Storage, a year after they withdrew in 2008.

The players who won the most events in what is now called the Transition Chanpionship are K.J. Choi and Retief Goosen, the latter is also the golfer who has earned the most at more than $2 million. Vijay Singh scored the highest at this golf tournament. It has been announced that this year’s event will be held on March 17 to 20 at the Copperhead golf course of the Innisbrook Brook Resort and Golf Club.
The course is a 7,340 yard Par 71. Its distinctive rolling terrain and fairways lined with trees challenge even the world’s greatest golfers. Natural wildlife in the lakes and ponds that surround it is also abundant such as alligators, blue herons, bald eagles, fox squirrels, and many more. This has made it a very beautiful setting for those who visit and play at the golf course.
